Windows Update Error 0x - upgrade to Windows 10 21H1 fails - Microsoft Community.Troubleshoot problems updating Windows
If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for. This appears to be the same issue I am having, and its tools, particalarly 'SubInAcl.
Running the suggest 'fix. Running the other suggested fix takes about an hour, but similarly has many 'Access Denied' errors:. There are no matches in the log for 'Access Denied', 'Access', 'Denied', or '0x' or '' , but there are for 'Fail'. I did try running the 'Windows Update Troubleshooter' after each such failure, but it does not help. Rebooting, or freeing all temporary files with Storage Settings, and running the above fix scripts or the Windows Update Troubleshooter makes no difference.
The only option to preserve the machine's ability to update appears to be to perform a fresh install of Windows on it. OK, I think I have found and fixed the problem, by: 1. Running the update again ; 2. LOG in read-only mode I used Emacs and search for '0x'. That seems strange, as the Original Owner and New Owner appear to be identical. How can this happen? All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired. Really, advising users to find occurrences of the 0x in the CBS.

And one file CRC mismatch was found All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired Then, I re-ran the update KB , and it finally succeeded!
